Opportunity for Community Service

The Board of Directors is accepting resumes from homeowners for a position of director on the board. If you are willing to provide community service and have a background in business, management, finance, project management or a related field, please send your resume to Preferred Property Managers. Villa Monterey HOA is a $54 million complex and is a major investment of most homeowners. Your decisions will help guide the board as we move forward to be certain that we maintain property values and help Villa Monterey remain as one of the premier locations in San Diego. You may fax your resume to (868) 569-8782 or it.

Thank you, Scott

Board of Director Vice President Scott Linek and his family have moved to the Midwest. We would like to take this opportunity to thank Scott for his service on the board. His critical thinking and expertise as an attorney in the community provided valuable input on the board. We wish Scott and his family happiness and success in their new home.

Labor Day

Labor Day, the first Monday in September, is a creation of the labor movement and is dedicated to the social and economic achievements of American workers. It constitutes a yearly national tribute to the contributions workers have made to the strength, prosperity, and well being of our country

Clubhouse Notes

Those renting the clubhouse need to lock all the doors upon leaving the premises. This includes the front door, office door, bathrooms, and the glass doors leading to the pool area.

It has come to our attention that homeowners are treating the clubhouse showers as a substitute for the facilities in their homes. We don't think, for instance, that shampoo should be brought into our showers as the residue creates a cleaning challenge.

Pool Area

A new pool cover and umbrellas have been ordered.

In a time of peak usage for our pool, individual owners/renters need to be reminded that they are responsible for pool keys in their possession. That is, they are called upon to be present when a key is used to enter the pool area. Your Board frowns on a key holder giving that key to a friend or family member for the latter's use. Please read your rules manual.

Displaying the American Flag
Flag Etiquette

The federal flag code says the universal custom is to display the U.S. flag from sunrise to sunset on buildings and stationary flagstaffs in the open, but when a patriotic effect is desired the flag may be displayed 24-hours a day if properly illuminated during the hours of darkness. Also, the U.S. flag should not be displayed when the weather is inclement, except when an all-weather flag is displayed.

Displaying the Flag
On Same Staff
U.S. flag at peak, above any other flag except a flag of another nation
Grouped
U.S. flag goes to its own right. Flags of other nations are flown at same height.
Marching
U.S. flag to marcher's right (observer's left).
On Speaker's Platform
When displayed with a speaker's platform, it must be above and behind the speaker. If mounted on a staff it is on the speaker's right.
Decoration
Never use the flag for decoration. Use bunting with the blue on top, then white, then red.
Salute
Head bare (women and military leave hats on), right hand over heart, standing at attention
Over a Street
Union (stars) face north or east depending on the direction of the street.
Half Staff
On special days, the flag may be flown at half-staff. On Memorial Day it is flown at half-staff until noon and then raised.
  • Do not let the flag touch the ground.
  • Do not fly flag upside down unless there is an emergency.
  • Do not carry the flag flat, or carry things in it.
  • Do not use the flag as clothing.
  • Do not store the flag where it can get dirty.
  • Do not use it as a cover.
  • Do not fasten it or tie it back. Always allow it to fall free.
  • Do not draw on, or otherwise mark the flag.
