August 2004

What's on your doorstep?

This is just an additional reminder for those of you who don't use your front door much. And even those who do. Take a look at your porch periodically and make sure that it is free of restaurant flyers, phone books, real estate notepads/calendars/success stories, newspapers, political ads, etc. When any of this is left out on your stoop it makes the whole neighborhood look a little tacky.

Sidewalk Racers

Maybe it's just the beginning of summer, but we've noticed an increase in skate boarders on our sidewalks, sometimes even powered. For those of you who are new to the community and as a reminder to the veterans whose children have just gotten out of school, this activity is not allowed around our greenbelts.

Automatic Payment

The Association offers homeowners automatic withdrawal of monthly HOA fees from their bank accounts. If you are interested in signing up for this service, please contact Preferred Property Managers at (619) 220-8773 or by .

Canyon Walks

For those of you interested in taking a hike in our nearby canyons, please be on the lookout for Poison Oak (in addition to coyotes). One (probably more) of our homeowners could tell you horror stories about the recovery treatment. Steroids, anyone? In this case, the steroids are legal, but…. And by the way, while you're checking for poisonous plants out there, pick up your trash and carry it out of the canyon. Mother Nature and other hikers will thank you for it.

Pool Furniture

You may have noticed that the pool furniture was "sequestered" for a few days. In order to maintain its appearance, instead of replacing the furniture and trashcans, most of it was recently painted. This saved the association a few hundred dollars and it looks great!

Pool Hours

Because voices from the pool area can carry all the way to the canyon, please be courteous to your neighbors by observing the appropriate hours. This is particularly troublesome at night. Pool users must vacate the pool and spa area by 10 p.m. Violators will be approached by the Community Committee and will be asked to leave the area immediately.

Next HOA Meeting

The next homeowner's meeting will be on Wednesday, August 11th at 6:00 p.m. and all homeowners are encouraged to attend. Remember, it's always the second Wednesday of the month. We're always looking for concerned homeowners who would like to be involved.

Why isn't iron added to milk? Iron fortified milk turns coffee green.

Alexander Graham Bell refused to have a phone in his study because the ringing drove him nuts. Wonder what he would think about cell phones!

There's hope for all of us. Johnny Carson, Michael Douglas and Clint Eastwood were all once gas station attendants.
