Mathew Vidosh Painting has finished the final four buildings in this year's painting cycle. If the buildings painted look brighter and fresher, it's due, in part, to advances in paint chemistry. The new generation of "super" paints are just that. We should not experience the fading that's now in evidence in some of our darker trim colors. We have it in writing. You may have had occasion to talk to the painters, a most unusual crew this past December. There's Matt Vidosh, of course. He's joined by his wife, Laurie, and by her brother, Ben. Talk about a family working together. Laurie was a travel agent but when that business fell apart, she donned painter's whites. She goes up with the best of them. We've found their work - especially the preparation - to be outstanding. If you experienced any problems, contact Preferred Property Managers.
The walk in question is the especial goal of many a dog owner. We are finding, however, that it is an after-hours party site, as well. The folks who enjoy themselves there seldom take trash away with them. Bottles, bags, cans and other assorted items can be all over the walkway. Please report this sort of litter to our landscapers or Preferred Property Managers.
I am originally from Albuquerque New Mexico where I completed high school and my BA in Communications from the University of New Mexico. I briefly lived in Texas where I met my wife to be Cindi and relocated to California. With a brief stay in San Francisco, Candi and I relocated to LA and finally settled in San Diego in 1993. In 1997, my wife and I moved into our current residence on Guinda Court. It was at that time my wife accepted the position of Manager of The Container Store in Fashion Valley. Respectively, I completed my graduate degree (Masters in Education) at the University of San Diego and joined the University of California, San Diego as an academic counselor to under-represented high school students in greater San Diego. Since then I joined the UCSD Extension department as the Director of Student Affairs and most recently have taken over as the Registrar and Director of Student Services. During my short time at UCSD I have had the privilege of being elected as the president of the UCSD Staff Association and other staff focused groups. I am also proud to have received the most outstanding employee award at UCSD in 1999 and recently received the Employee Diversity Award for promoting the values and ideals of diversity in the workplace. In short, I hope I can provide some of the values and understanding of diversity and management to the Board of Directors at Villa Monterey HOA.
On Saturday morning, November 30th, children and adults from our HOA family helped decorate our clubhouse. At last, we've acquired the lights and decorations - mostly donations - to create a very seasonal setting. Let's hope you had the chance to walk by the scene at night - very impressive. Especial thanks are owed to Frank Toto, who sorted through all the decorations and got our lights untangled and in good working order. Again, we'd welcome your gift of decorations at any time.
Our clubhouse is proving very popular with renters at this season. But, not everyone absorbs the directions they get from our clubhouse manager. For instance, a recent renter got in the night before to decorate and in leaving, left every light burning, including those in the office. This same individual did not put the keys back in the lock box, as asked, but took them with her. Somehow, she managed to misplace them before her party. Also, the trash generated was not taken away at the time her guests cleared the clubhouse. Of course, we'll need to charge her for the missing keys and perhaps for a night's electricity. Take note that our rental fees are really very modest. We count on every renter observing the directions given orally as well as spelled out in the rental agreement.
With the increase in building and development in the area, rodents such as mice and rats are seeking new homes. Unfortunately, we've received an increasing amount of reports of the rat problems at Villa Monterey HOA. We need your help to control this problem.
Please trim back any plant vegetation or trees in your patio areas away from the building. The thick vegetation is a haven for rats. With trees being close/touching the building, it's pretty much an open door for them. Also, make sure you do not leave cat or dog food out - Your pets like it, so do the rats. If you have a bird feeder, that is also a welcome treat for the rodents. Thank you for your help.
Last month's MESSAGE said "goodbye" to Regina Jaggers, our retiring landscape chair. However, we failed to say our "farewells" to Stormy, a 5-year old terrier mix, who's the really knowledgeable member of that committee. For Stormy knows every bush, shrub, and tree in the HOA. He covers his territory daily and takes his responsibilities seriously. He personifies the dedication and perseverance we all look for in Board members. Adieu.
In a single hour, a broken washing machine hose can leak up to 500 gallons of water. Avoid this expense and inconvenience by checking your hoses for:
Hoses typically are only intended to last perhaps 5 years before they should be replaced. If you find soft spots or brittleness near connections, replace hoses immediately. Also, don't forget to turn off the water to your washing machine before you leave on vacation.
With the rainy season upon us, please give thought to cleaning out the gutters on your home.
