A homeowner writes that she was bitten by a pit bull on our property and that the owner made no effort to restrain her dog nor apologize on the animal's behalf. "This is a serious matter...all residents should restrain their pets at all times when walking them."
Lately, we have been receiving complaints about motor homes and boats being parked on Antigua.
Tierrasanta community rules prohibit such vehicles from using the public streets for storage.
To report these violations you can call the San Diego Police Department at (619) 531-2000. They will send someone out to issue a 72-hour notice to move and follow up with ticketing and towing if necessary.
The Annual Homeowners Meeting will be in April this year. We have had a great year. Property values are up. Further, our easy Freeway access enhances the value of your home.
We will have two Board seats to fill. As we saw in the presidential elections, your votes do count. With operating expenses increasing, we will present you with a comprehensive picture of how we intend to limit future assessment increases.
Please be there for us as we work for YOU throughout the year.
Sincerely,
Skip Kruszona
The Noise Complaint Line for Marine Corps Air Station is (858) 577-4279. Please call this number to report Marine aircraft flying south of SR-52 or to report any noise complaints.
The city of San Diego sweeps the streets in Tierrasanta on the 3rd Friday of every month. Please remember to move your vehicles off the street on that day so that the streets can be cleaned! Keeping the debris out of the gutter will help keep the storm drains flowing properly so they don't back up.
IF YOU FIND A PIECE OF UNEXPLODED ORDNANCE: DO NOT TOUCH IT; MARKS ITS LOCATION; CALL 911 AND WAIT FOR THE FIRE DEPARTMENT TO ARRIVE.
California entomologists are worried Giant eucalyptus trees are dying. All because of a "bug"! Native to Australia, this Glycaspis brimblecombei (better known as psyllids) is causing major amounts of damage to the native Australian Eucalyptus tree we've all come to know and love in San Diego.
Psyllids were first spotted, in June of 1988 near El Monte but have apparently been spreading like locus. You can recognize signs of their existence by the gooey crystal rain-like droplets left on your car after parking under a tree, leaves on the ground are sticky and slimy and may stick to you shoes.
Many tree trimmers and arborists have said they don't even want to trim the infected trees. Apparently the trauma, to the tree is so great, even the act of trimming could cause more stress than the Eucalyptus could stand and thus cause its death. The concern for the problem is so great that researchers from the University of California at Berkley have been sent to Australia to find a natural predator for this pest.
There was (in 1992) a natural predator found for a "cousin" of this psyllid and it appeared to produce dramatic results in wiping out the other variety of psyllid in Australia. This appears to be the best hope for a solution or at least a clue to obtain a cure for the variety of psyllid currently in San Diego.
For now, the recommendation is to NOT aggressively prune the trees and to NOT provide excessive water. At this time, new growth should not be encouraged, as it would simply provide a temptation to the psyllid, which just happens to prefer new growth to feed on over old growth.
