December 2000
With the rainy season just around the bend please give thought to cleaning out the gutters on your home.
With the increase in building and development in the area, rodents such as mice and rats are seeking new homes. Unfortunately, we've received an increasing amount of reports of the rat problems at Villa Monterey - HOA. We need your help to control this problem.
Please trim back any plant vegetation or trees in your patio area away from the building. The thick vegetation is a haven for rats. With trees being close/touching the building, it's pretty much an open door for them. Thank you for your help!
Early in the new year, we hope to get to work on our patio fences. Our first priority will be to replace up to forty of the most dilapidated of these with new fencing that resembles what the COA now has in place. Perhaps as many as twenty fences will get major surgery to extend their present life. All fences - both old and new - will be painted to prevent the water staining now in evidence on sane of-our neighbor's fences. Homeowners will be notified by letter just what they will need to do to their patios to get ready for what's caning.
In a single hour, a broken washing machine hose can leak up to 500 gallons of water. Avoid this expense and inconvenience by checking hose for:
If you find soft spots or brittleness near connections, replace hoses immediately. Also, do not forget to turn off the water to your washing machine before you leave on vacation.
If you have ever lived in a cold country where snow and sleet are on the menu for three or four months of the year, you may remember making a great effort to "get ready for winter", i.e. to check roofs for leaks, seal windows and make sure that the furnace is going to work. Fortunately, here in San Diego, we do not have to go through ALL of those routines. However, we really should have the furnace checked out before winter is upon us (800) 411-7343. Tell them you want to make sure that your furnace is going to work properly. There is no charge for this inspection! If they find anything wrong, they will not repair it as it is your responsibility to get it repaired. Please do not wait until the first cold night of the season to call SDG&E they have lots of callers and you may end up at the end of the list.
