In the on-going need to maintain our not-so-young buildings, the board has initiated a painting schedule that takes us into the new century. In the upcoming month, for instance, we hope to paint the three dwellings on the greenbelt between Outlook and Oakleaf. Of course, you'll be notified in advance so that you can have your windows closed when a given building is spray-washed. Also, we'll appreciate it if you'd move patio furniture away from the walls. If you have questions, call John Marsh, the Painting Chairman.
Your Board of Directors is looking to rent a garage in the HOA for storage purposes. If you are not using your garage and you'd like to see the space put to good use, please call Marysia.
At least one homeowner has recently reported the theft of mail left in her garage box. Please, especially, if you're paying bills, do not place outgoing mail in your box or mail slot. Rather, take it to a government mail box. Better still to the Post Office.
Many HOA residents rarely use their front doors. It's an opportunity for all sorts of advertising flyers to accumulate and detract from what realtors call out curbside appeal. Please take a look and then dispose of what you find.
Children have recently been seen with shovels attempting to dig up our irrigation system. Strange, but true. Please discourage them.

Individuals who have had their dryer ducts cleaned out and who have seen for themselves the lint buildup urge others in the HOA to follow your example. Call, for instance, San Diego Air Duct Cleaning, 276-4356.
In any discussion of the film musical, the names of Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers -- the boulevardier and the broad - are surely front and center. And its not surprising that they have been the subject of so much critical attention: from Arlene Croce's evocative THE FRED ASAIRE AND GINGER ROGERS BOOK to John Mueller's THE MUSICAL FILMS OF FRED ASTAIRE. The pair's chemistry -- their wit, elegance, and verve -- are surely a delight to behold. Nelson Eddy and Jeanette MacDonald had reached audiences through their voices; Astaire and Rogers do so through feet that, in effect, speak for them.
Viewers might want to begin with TOP HAT (1935). Arguable their finest film, it is the sort of romance with which audiences of the day could identify. That is, it is at once innocent and moral. And though TOP HAT touches base with every cliche the audience has come to associate with falling in love, it makes these new as Astaire and Rogers act out before our eyes the rituals of courtship and lovemaking. To be sure, the dialogue of their films is often inane but then it is at best incidental to our enjoyment of their fine romances.
Experts say the conditions are just right and there are a lot of snakes out there this year. The ones to be concerned about of course are Rattlesnakes. Rattlesnakes prefer wooded areas near lakes and streams and usually shy away from areas where humans go. However, they will settle for wood piles and dense foliage near homes too. if you are walking or working outside, wear boots. Rattlesnakes rarely strike above the ankle. Educate your children ... tell them never to touch a snake until it is identified. Most victims of snakes are nosy dogs who are sniffing around and get too close. If you come in contact with a Rattlesnake leave it alone. If it is in your home or garage, or will not leave your property, call Animal Control for assistance at 236-4250.
